Within the broader national journey of Chinese modernization, hospitals in China are exploring a development model that combines people-centred care, public-interest orientation, modern governance, operational excellence, scientific and technological innovation, and responsible international engagement.
From an institutional perspective, this model is underpinned by strong governance, a commitment to the public good, integrity, and the principle of putting people and health first. From a system perspective, it calls for coordinated reform across medical services, medical insurance and pharmaceuticals; stronger primary-level care; well-defined roles for secondary and tertiary hospitals; and a transition from disease-centred treatment to people-centred health services. From an operational perspective, it encompasses clinical discipline planning, talent development, lean management, digital and intelligent transformation, research and innovation, organisational culture, life-course health management, green hospital development and international collaboration. From an ecosystem perspective, it emphasises integrated healthcare delivery, government–industry–academia–research–healthcare collaboration, and closer links between health services and the wider health industry.
Vision shapes foresight; foresight informs decisions; and decisions create the capacity for sustainable development. For fourteen years, CN-Healthcare has pursued its mission of “for better healthcare services”, studying hospital development trends and management practices across the full life cycle of hospital development. Together with hospital leaders throughout China, CN-Healthcare develops practical methodologies and contributes to an open, collaborative platform for hospital management learning and exchange.
The 14th CN-Healthcare Hospital Management Conference 2026 will take place from 27 to 29 November 2026 in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, with selected in-depth exchange activities in Macao. Under the central theme “Charting a New Blueprint for Hospital Development in the Context of Chinese Modernization”, the Conference will feature ten major areas of hospital management and three signature programmes, with Hengqin serving as the main venue and Macao hosting dedicated exchanges and site visits.
